SUMMARY:Queering Miniature Portraits
DESCRIPTION:A free\, creative workshop for South Asian LGBTQ+ folks\, exploring the intersection of LGBTQ+\, South Asian and diasporic identities.\nThis workshop is free and centres those who are South Asian and identify as LGBTQ+\, allies are welcome to attend. All materials will be provided. \nWhat does it mean to be LGBTQ+\, South Asian and part of a diaspora? This workshop\, facilitated by Aaran Sian (they/them)\, will explore the intersection of our identities through traditional South Asian minature paintings. \nThese artworks have often celebrated fluidity in gender\, desire\, intimacy and symbolism. Each piece will be woven into a larger collective pattern. \nThis workshop is presented by Dhaga\, Islington Museum and Club Kali’s National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project\, ‘Where East meets West’\, as part of Islington Museum’s ‘Our Home\, Our Legacy: Club Kali at 30’ exhibition\, open August 29th – October 7th 2025. \n
