DESCRIPTION:Volunteer for us and get ‘Hands-On’ Archives Training\nAre you interested in queer history and South-Asian heritage? Do you love meeting new people\, and discovering inspiring networks? \nWe are looking for volunteers to help document and deposit the ‘Where East Meets West’ Clun Kali Network collection at Bishopsgate Institute. \nVolunteers will be working with digital and physical materials connected to Club Kali from the 1990s to present. \nThe collection will be a milestone addition to Bishopsgate Institute’s spectacular Queer Archive. \nGuided by senior archivists you get will free\, hands-on training\, including: \nArchive skills including basic cataloguing\nDigitisation;\nQueer Archiving – what’s different and why;\nEthical considerations. \nThis first workshop on Tue 29 April\, from 18:00\, includes a tour\, a queer archives intro\, and first insights into the cataloguing process of the Club Kali collection. \nDon’t miss the opportunity to be part of a wonderful team\, from diverse backgrounds\, and not to forget the smashing Archives Launch party in November 2025 (date tbc)! \nTravel expenses are reimbursed for project volunteers. \nPlaces are strictly limited. DESCRIPTION:Oral History Training\nAre you interested in LGBTQ+ history\, storytelling\, and archives? \nWe are looking for volunteers to gather stories about the Club Kali Network. Free oral History Training provided.\nVolunteers will be interviewing a range of people who have been connected with Club Kali from the 1990s to present. You will record these rich and vibrant stories to inform the archive\, events and exhibition outputs. \nBefore starting the interviews\, we will give you free training to learn about effective interview techniques\, ethics and using recording equipment. \nWant to find out more? She is a trustee of the Oral History Society\, a national organisation which promotes best practice in the collection\, preservation and dissemination of oral histories.
